Message First off: (Just to clear something up)

I realize a lot of you here on TT.net are purists and I totally respect that. I love the Z car and it's heritage and I plan on buying another Z and completely restoring it to factory spec. My 91 NA was gaining mileage, slowing down, having numerous problems and just running into a dead end (i.e. all show and NO go). I chose to swap in a LS1 engine instead of a TT engine because I want to be unique and enjoy MY car. The TT swap has been done and honestly (I've done my research) my swap didn't cost much more at all. ;) It's cool if you don't like it... you don't drive it; I do. =P It's original, it's insanely fast for a stock motor, my Z now has potential like never before.. and I'm just having a blast with her. :) Just wanted to clear this up for all you possible 'haters' out there. ;)

On with the good stuff:

Quick notes on what you are reading about:

Car: 1991 Nissan 300zx 2+0 NA
Engine: 1998 LS1 w/ T-56 6-Spd transmission (really nice to cruise 70mph at 1300rpms )

For a complete specs list and a few other pics check out my TT.net profile or my dinky cardomain page by clicking HERE.

My Z is unbelievably astonishing now. The sheer power upgrade has me just grinning from ear to ear when I think about it. The NA engine just wasn't cutting it... not to mention it was having a few problems and was fairly expensive for me to maintain. The conversion was a way for me to give my Z more pep and more individuality while bettering other qualities of the car as well.

The engine has been set further back 3 inches to move more weight toward the center of the car. I aso have the battery in the trunk now. That shift coupled with the lighter weight of the aluminum LS1 make the weight distribution so much more evenly spread out. Now the stability and handling is just incredible. I'd describe her as a quicker, more nimble (graceful) C5 Vette. =)

I took the Z out for an "Acceleration test" for the first time Saturday night. I had never taken her above 2500rpms prior to this !!! I still played it REALLY safe though and just rowed through the gears... no power-shifting just yet... I'm not used to the T-56 pattern. lol

Anyways... I went to a freeway that isn't too busy at night and decided to see how fast I could get up to 60 on the onramp. I took a left, and as soon as my car was pointing straight... I pushed it! 1st gear up to 5500 rpms... casual shift into second *Screech!*.... I'm instantly at 60mph and couldn't stop.. wound out 2nd gear to 5500rpms... slow, fumbling shift into third (I need practice) *Screech!* and then let off at 90 mph!

wow ............

I was giddy and completely wired at this point. 90mph came SOO fast. I just couldn't stop smiling! :) Now the thing is... and I'm sure some of you already noticed... I shifted at 5500rpms. I know the LS1 redline is higher.. but I'm too scared to push it any higher just yet... that and she was pulling like a MOFO anyway! I was also shifting pretty slowly allowing time for the rpms to drop just a little before I got it into the next gear... I STILL spin in second and then into THIRD!

I have never experienced 3rd-gear wheelspin before... and honestly.. I didn't expect it! I was shifting early, shifting slowly and I have 265, Y-rated, sticky tires!!! They still broke loose! MY ENGINE IS BONE STOCK!!!!!! Oooooh, the potential makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!! The power is just overwhelming... man is it awesome!

On a seperate run, my buddy was riding and took a loose 0-60 time and clocked 4.9sec. I realize it isn't very accurate, but I'd estimate my 0-60 to be around 4.5 with proper driving and winding out all of first gear... not bad for a stock motor! =D

Future plans are to clean up the electronics in the engine bay which I will be fabbing boxes and covers for soon. And to get this beast up to 500/500 specs all naturally aspirated. It'll be a while before I get there, but I'm sure I can have enough fun for now! ;)

At this moment there are only a few more tiny jobs to be done before she is TOTALLY complete! I should be able to have the majority of them done by the end of the month! A few small fabrication jobs will take the most time, but it's all accessory stuff now for the most part!

Hopefully I'll have a good portion of that stuff done by October 30th which is when I'll be entering my Z in a local Nissan Show N' Shine car show here is Katy/Houston, Texas. I'm also going to be taking her to a show on November 13th in San Antonio which will be hosted by Sport Z Magazine! I'm soooo excited!!!!

Ok.. I had to share. Sorry it was so long, but I just can't get over how unbelievable this creation is!

On with the new pics: (dont mind the krazeezx2.com, my server is temporarily down =( )
